About One Smile Brockton
One Smile Brockton is a grassroots campaign to bring water fluoridation to our city and improve the oral health (and overall health) of our children, neighbors, co-workers and friends. As dentists, pediatricians, parents, educators, and community leaders, we are committed to making Brockton as healthy and vibrant as possible.
Why bring fluoride to Brockton?
Sixty-six percent of 35-44 year olds in MA have lost at least one tooth, and 14% of adults 65-74 have lost all of their teeth. In Brockton, over 300 people are on the wait list for dental care at the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center and their oral health condition continues to worsen while they wait. Additionally, dental decay is the most common childhood disease, four times more common than asthma. Community water fluoridation is one of the key strategies to address these oral health problems.
Community water fluoridation is a proven, safe, and cost-effective way to promote stronger and healthier teeth for EVERYONE.
